Making Pancakes!

Hi guys!

As I announced in my previous post, I'm currently on a 10-day vacation with my boyfriend. Yesterday we wanted to cook something new and different for breakfast and in the end we decided to try making pancakes. Neither of us had ever tried pancakes before, so we didn't know exactly what to expect but they turned out to be absolutely delicious and perfect for breakfast.

So, because we were extremely happy with this dish, I thought I'd post the recipe we used for you guys to try as well.

This is a recipe for classic pancakes and it makes about 8-10 pancakes (depending on how much batter you use for every pancake).

For this recipe you will need:

All-purpose flour: 1 & 1/2 cups
Baking powder:  3 & 1/2 teaspoons
White sugar: 2 tablespoons
Salt: 1/2 teaspoons
Milk: 1 & 1/4 cups
Egg: 1 (medium or large)
Butter: 3 tablespoons, melted

Preparation in 14 steps:

1. Gather your ingredients and cooking utensils. Organise your station to save space.

2. Let your egg and milk set at room temperature.

3. In a large bowl sift together the dry ingredients: flour, baking powder, salt and sugar (I recommend using a whisk).

4. In another bowl, beat your egg.

5. Melt the butter in a small pan, add it to the egg and continue beating lightly.

6. Heat the milk a little, add it to the mix and beat it lightly.

7. Make a well in the center of the first bowl with the dry ingredients and pour in the wet ingredients from the other bowl. Mix until smooth.

8. Leave the mix to sit on the counter for 10 minutes before cooking.

9. Heat a lightly oiled non-stick frying pan or griddle in over medium high temperature. After research I found that there is probably no exact temperature for cooking pancakes. You will have to test out different temperatures and figure out which is exactly right for cooking your pancakes, by cooking one tablespoon of the mixture and adjusting the temperature accordingly.

10. Pour or scoop the batter onto the pan. How much you use for each pancake is up to you although the recommended amount is 1/4 cup at a time.

11. When the edges of the pancake are brown and small bubbles start forming on the center and popping to create permanent holes on the surface, turn it over and cook the other side.

12. When both sides are golden brown you can slide your pancake onto a plate.

13. Serve with: Maple syrup and butter.
Yogurt, honey and fruit of your preference.
Chocolate spread/syrup and ice-cream (personal                          favourite).
Chocolate syrup/spread and fruit of your                                preference (I recommend bananas or strawberries).
                Eggs and bacon.

14. Enjoy your perfect pancakes!

Personal comments:
What's best about this recipe is that it is delicious and it's both easy to do and easy to remember. It doesn't take much time or effort to make and it only requires small amounts of ingredients that you probably already have in your kitchen. Not to mention that you can serve it with any topping of your liking. In my opinion pancakes make a perfect breakfast meal and I thoroughly enjoyed cooking and -of-course- eating them.

I, also, want to give a shout out to my amazing boyfriend who helped me make this dish.

You can check out the site where I found the original recipe here keeping in mind that I used some of the instructions from reviews and additional sites to form the recipe featured in this post.
